“Animal Crossing: New Horizons” is getting a brand new update – including an upgrade for the Switch 2. Nintendo made the announcement October 30th, when it posted a trailer.
Officials say the update will include brand new features, and will be available for players on January 15th, 2026. The update will be free for players on both the Switch and the Switch 2.
However, players looking to upgrade their game from the Switch to the Switch 2, will have to play an extra $4.99. This is for folks who purchased the game for the original Switch, while folks buying the game on Switch 2 outright will have to pay $64.99.

Nintendo says the Switch 2 version of the game will have enhanced graphics, better resolution, and will increase the number of gamers that can visit the player’s island at a given time.
The update will also add Kapp’n’s family hotel, add crafting and storage space, and a new service from Luna. It will also introduce collaborations items from other popular games, including “The Legend of Zelda” and “Splatoon.”
“Animal Crossing: New Horizons” originally released March 20th, 2020.
