Free Cloud Gaming coming to XBox?

A cheaper version of the Xbox Cloud Gaming could be coming to gamers soon, as Microsoft confirmed to the New York Times on Friday that it’s currently considering a version supported by ads.

According to a Microsoft official, the company is currently testing the program internally and it would allow Xbox users to play certain games for free through the Cloud Gaming service.

Currently Xbox Cloud Gaming is currently available as a part of the Game Pass service. It is still unclear at this time if Microsoft will include the ad-supported version of Cloud Gaming as a separate free version of Game Pass or if it will be released as its own separate entity.

It is also uncertain how many games will be available for players once the service is fully released.

This follows moves by Xbox to increase the price on Game Pass, and the Xbox series X/S earlier this year after sales declined by more than 20-percent.

Game Pass originally appeared in 2019, costing gamers just $15. That increases now to $30, which takes effect on November 4th.
