PlayStation fans who can’t get enough of the colour blue are in for a treat — Sony has just unveiled a new limited edition ‘Icon Blue’ DualSense controller for the PS5, and it’s as strikingly blue as its name suggests.
The special-edition controller will arrive later this month, though it comes with a few caveats. For now, availability is restricted to the US, Canada, Mexico, and Chile, with release dates set for October 20th in the US and Canada, and October 28th in Mexico and Chile.
Sony also confirmed that the controller will be exclusive to Walmart, retailing at $84.99 USD or $109.99 CAD.
According to PlayStation design lead Leo Cardoso, the vivid design draws directly from the company’s long history with the colour:
“Inspired by PlayStation’s iconic shades of blue, this design captures the feeling of anticipation and wonder every time you pick up the controller. As a nod to our origins, we added Katakana characters on the back that spell our name the Japanese way: Pureisutēshon.”
The result is a sleek and stylish addition to the DualSense lineup that’s bound to appeal to collectors and players alike.
