Some eager fans are already getting their hands on physical PS5 copies of Battlefield 6, just days ahead of its official release on October 10th — and there’s some encouraging news for collectors and disc-based players.
Unlike some recent major releases, the full version of Battlefield 6 is included on the disc, meaning players won’t need to download the entire 68GB game from scratch. Of course, a day-one patch is still expected, so a small update at launch will likely be necessary.
One notable detail on the box, however, is the fine print stating that a “persistent Internet connection [is] required to play.” Reports suggest the servers are already live, but this requirement means even the single-player campaign can’t be played offline, which will disappoint fans hoping for a true solo experience.
Still, having the full game pressed onto the disc is a welcome move — particularly for an online-focused title like Battlefield 6. It’s a sharp contrast to some recent physical releases, such as DOOM: The Dark Ages and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which shipped without the complete game content and relied heavily on downloads.
For those who value owning a tangible copy, this is a refreshing bit of good news — even if you’ll still need that internet connection to jump into the action.
